  • Shoretel 7 - Are you beta testing?

We just signed up for the Shoretel 7 beta and was wondering if anyone else is also testing. Haven't installed it yet because the current build has this little issue

    >11. 1-23127306 - Upgrade from ShoreTel 6.1 to ShoreTel 7 failed when ShoreWare is installed on D drive. ShoreTel recommends customers who have installed ShoreWare on D drive not to upgrade to 12.5.2803.0 until the root cause has been corrected.

This basically affects any install not on the C drive, our is on the E.

we've been running ST7 for a month or 2. I love the new features, they are a huge improvement. Alot of our users love the custom ringtones. I was at VoiceCon today and learned so much...but I'm not allowed to discuss it...but I can say that I will be buying Shoretel Stock as soon as it's on the market!

Been running it for 3 months now. Pretty stable, we haven't had any major issues.

How does it compare with 6.1? We've been on 3-4 different releases of 6.1 and I've found them all to be a bit buggy. Hoping 7 makes some improvements with this regard.

I haven't had any issues, but then of course, we don't really push the system and try all the features. I'm the gatekeeper of our system, but I am not a user, nor am I close to it (It's 80 miles to the office). I'm in the field 90% of the time. Makes it a little hard to test things and play with it.

            Matt,
Wonder if you could share with us the bugs you found on 6.1? Thx.

PS: for some reasons, bugs found on the fields do not get back to our group (there're other group handle this). It's good to know directly what kind of bugs customers/partners runnning into.

We've had some trouble with the gig phones go to no service randomly. Also an issue when 2 workgroup agents do a call pickup simultaneously they would get bridged somehow.

Those are all I can think of at the moment. Nothing was major, just annoyances...

              thanks

There was a release of 6.1 that Resolved that exact issue. Apparently, it was a big deal, it's the only fix on that release. Have you updated yet?

Both of those issues have been resolved. The 560G one affected about 10% of the population (we had two 560G phones that exhibited the behavior and run great now).

Bugs can be hit and miss. The QA process seems to have gotten better over the past 2 years and a lot more of the bugs are caught before they get it. This will continue to improve, especially after the IPO and additional cash becomes available for growth.

Defintely share any problems you run in to as a lot of us see them and discover the workarounds or have worked with escalations and have an understanding of when it might be fixed. We should be due for another 6.1 build (and a new 7.0 build probably next week) anytime now.

Yes, multiple customers. A good portion of our customers stay on top of the releases...

I have seen the IP100 (polycom) mentioned in the release notes for 7. Does it support them still? I heard it wasn't going to, but now I am just confused
