I personally would not assign the phones statically as I have seen problems during power outages where the phones default to DHCP and if you didn't configure it right expect to stay on the phone and reprogram all the phones. I would do reservations before I would do Static.

First, thank you everyone for all of the help.

2) On the ShoreTel system make sure you create the IP address map and assign it to a site.
3) Make sure under ip phone > Options in director you have the configuration switches assigned
note: Do not assign the MGCP address from the phone while doing setup they will get that from the FTP server.
Also make sure your FTP is set to accept annonymous login
You can check this at the Server level Command window
Just type
ftp localhost
Put in anonymous
and then hit return until you see Login successful. If it says Failed your Server is the issue IIS

I would recommend statically addressing these phones, even if DHCP is working ok. Also, try removing the phones from the system (delete the phones from the IP Phones list). Reboot the phones, if the phones still have the same issue after re-authenticating to the system, look at the IPCS log file, as you should see these phones in the log. Let us know what you find. :_cool:

The phones do not retrieve their IPs from the main site, they get their IPs locally from the local Sonicwall DHCP server, my apologies if that wasn't clear in the initial post.
I would statically assign the phone, but the phone IS getting an IP address according to the phone itself and the DHCP table of the Sonicwall.

How do the phones get DHCP from the main site, a microsoft DHCP server?
But go ahead and try this first, if the tunnel is up and running, have you tried to staticly assign the phone? This way you can determine if the phone is bad or something else is the problem?

No MGC IP Configured
I tried searching through the forums for a resolution, but found none. Hopefully someone can help.
I have two remote users who have shoretel phones hooked up to powered switches which are wired into Sonicwall VPN endpoints. VPN tunnel hooks into our main office. The Sonicwall endpoints are configured to hand out DHCP locally.
The configurations are pretty much identical and have been working fine; however, this afternoon, one of our offices received the message "No MGC IP Configured" on their phone. A few reboots later, we're stuck with the same message.
I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions as to why this error is cropping up and how to fix it. Again, I have two offices and one is working right now and the other is not. I checked to see if both VPNs are working properly and they are, so I'm left scratching my head at this point.Tags: None
