  • PCM issues 7.5

    Hi

I have a user that uses PCM pretty heavily. His Outlook has over 6000 contacts.

I have been having a problem with PCM on his machine where the PCM just freezes or it will just stop working. You see the PCM running, however you double click on it and it does not come up. Same behavior after restarting the PC.

The only way that I have been able to fix the issue is by re-installing the PCM and it works for a while then starts freezing and giving the same result.

Wondering if someone here has experienced this and can shed some light or help me out with this.

    Thanks

It appears this is one specific machine per you above notes in bold above?

I will guarantee this is an isolated issue relating to this users environment on the PC.

What 3rd party software (Using TAPI or MAPI) is installed on this machine?
The fact that you uninstall, reinstall and then it occurs slowly again is telling!

    Policy Groups on that machine
    Installed programs on that machine
    Antivirus
    Firewall
    Spyware
    Windows Defender

and so on all can contribute, the trick is isolating exactly where the issue is. What can you say about the user

Is he in IT, does he have administration privileges so on

Have you retooled this PC? meaning Scrubbed formated and reinstalled a fresh OS

Actually, if he has and NEEDS 6000 contacts, there are ways to optimize the call manager for this.

Unfortunatley, I am in Vegas, and half awake, so the procedure eludes me. Just remember, all 6,000 contacts are currently cached

Not sure if that is the issue, but the sequence would be

PCM >Options> Outlook >Contacts Cached to Disk

          Hello All,

Just wanted to get back to you on my findings. I am still not successful.

          1. No firewall running
          2. Blackberry desktop redirector is running, tried disabling it, PCM still did not work
          3. AV - Mcaffee, Shoreware folder is under exception list
          4. No other TAPI, MAPI applications are running
          5. With PCM not having any Outlook integration, the call manager still does not work on this PC.
          6. I have not re-installed windows and really don't want to do it if i don't have to. any ideas will be appreciated.

I am suspect of the BB component.

            Uninstall the ShoreTel PCM
Before Reboot of PC (Choose No when Prompted)
            go to
            Regedit > HKLM > Software >
            Delete ShoreLine Teleworker and Shoreware*

            reboot PC
Login in as LOCAL ADMINISTRATOR (not Domain admin, not user with admin rights) LOCAL ADMINISTRATOR

            Install PCM and reboot
Log in again as LOCAL ADMINISTRATOR
Finish the install using the Users Name and profile.

Reboot and log in normally as user and test.

If not then try a CSIS Ping frm the users PC Web browser
Replace the SERVER NAME with the HQ Server IP address

            Code:
            http://SERVERNAME/CSIS/CSISISAPI.dll/?request?00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000;CCSISSvrCONN::ping;
