I'll probably create a Shoretel ticket for this to complain to them, but I thought I would mention this here as this type of things drives me nuts.
So I just downloaded the latest 8.0 CR release to upgrade our current 8.0 CR install. The download is a single 1.1 Gig ZIP file. So I downloaded this file directly to our Shoreware server. Of course you need to unzip the file, so I unzip, and low and behold, there are TWO files in the zip. A .PDF file and an .EXE file. So of course I extract them out. So now I have three files, the .PDF, the .EXE and the .ZIP, now totaling 2.2 Gig's on the server. So I run the .EXE file, and it says it is extracting files. I check the local settings\temp directory to see what is going on. Sure enough, it creates a directory and puts four files in there. Three of them are .INI files, and the fourth is a .MSI file that is... 1.1 Gig in size. Lovely. So after extracting this .MSI file from the .EXE, the .MSI then takes over. Well, the .MSI file obviously has some type of command to extract IT'S contents, so it extracts another .MSI file one level down from the temp directory, called "41de37c8.msi", and again, surprise, it is 1.1 Gig in size. Now FINALLY the installer tires to run, and guess what, I HAVE TOO LITTLE DISK SPACE.
So let's add up how much disk space you need to even run the installer, let alone the installer actually performing the upgrade...
Shoreware Server.Zip = 1.1 Gig
Shoreware Server.exe = 1.1 Gig
Shoreware Server.msi = 1.1 Gig
41de37c8.msi = 1.1 Gig
Total to Install = 4.4 Gig + before the installer even upgrades anything.
