  • Shoretel Reports

We have never been able to get the reports to work. Every time i click on run report it gives me this error.....Error Occurred Reading Records: Failed to retrieve data from the database. Details: [Database Vendor Code: 1271 ]

No one seems to have any idea what is causing this to happen. Shoretel support thinks it might have to do with some group policies on our server but they are not completely sure

    It would help to know

    1: ShoreTel Build?
2: What Report are you accessing or is it any?
3: from where are you accessing the report (I.E. Start > Programs > ShoreTel)

Per MySql, and I dont think it is a MSQL issue So I tried Crystal Reports
        #

        Error: 1271 SQLSTATE: HY000 (ER_CANT_AGGREGATE_NCOLLATIONS)

Message: Illegal mix of collations for operation '%s'

        Pre Crystal Reports
Search Results There is some good info and yes it appears to be Server related
        Cause
The report SQL queries that have been sent to the server cannot be executed, because an error was returned by the database server after it processed the queries. For example, a field/table/procedure required by the report is missing, or the queries contain syntax errors.
        Action
Ensure the report is using the correct connection information. For example, the data source name, server name, database name, and user name are correct.
In a database-client test tool, ensure that the fields, tables, and procedures used by the report exist and that SQL queries can be executed against them.
In the Crystal Reports designer, verify that the SQL query, as shown under the Database menu Show SQL Query option, does not contain syntax errors.
If the SQL query shown in Crystal Reports is valid, execute the same SQL query through a database-client test tool.
Permissions on the Server or Policy (Which can and will change names / owners) can be the direct results as described in the Bold area above

        Some Questions
1: Is the Server on a Domain?
2: If yes, did you install ShoreTel on the server as it was on the Domain?
3: If Yes, you will have some pain here, and it is somewhat simple
4: If No, did you push the server to a domain after install?
5: If Yes to 4, do a gpresult from the command line, and start going through every policy that would cause the error

It is best to not push any policy to the Server that is disruptive to the ShoreTel operation, Simply push to the Domain.

Ok, I can guarantee your having issue that are sever related. You can save your self a whole lot of heart ache and time, if you want to follow these steps
            1. Uninstall ShoreTel Server
            2. Remove Server from Domain
            3. Copy Shoreline Data & all sub folders (Safe Gaurd)
            4. Ensure Server is now Stand Alone Wrk Grp
            5. Uninstall IIS
            6. Re-Install IIS (Make sure Server Side Includes is active)
            7. Delete the MySQL folder from ShoreLine Data/Call Records2 "NOTHING MORE JUST MySQL"
            8. Install your ShoreTel Software (Same Version)
            9. DO NOT ADD TO DOMAIN - "Until system is finctioning"
            10. When adding to Domain, push no policy that will take standard ST user privledges away or alter

I know it sounds bad, its not, your Grp Policy has altered names and permission for Sql Access, this is the fastest and painless way to get it right.

*Disclaimer - Always Ask ShoreTel TAC or your Partner about any advise given here or anywhere, they are your first line of defense

Adding the ST server to the Domain is not an issue as long as it is done after the ShoreTel is installed and functioning

IMHO, I would simple just add the machine to the domain, no policy push at all.

Again consult with ShoreTel TAC your Partner of ShoreTel Sales Engineer first.
