No Questions, just a report. We have a Shoretel system with about 40 phones. We recently opened a new building about a half mile down the road that we needed linked to our existing network and phones. We are a non-profit with a very small budget. Fiber was out of our price range. We looked into laying Cat5 with a booster/extender from Patton (rated 16megabit at 1 mile), but that was also fairly expensive. We decided to try out a wireless link. It has been running about a week now with no problems. We used Tranzeo radios with tree-penetrating antennas. It was a bridge bundle from company on the web. On the performance console of the Tranzeo, I can watch how its doing and it maintains a 54mb connection (dropping down to 48mb for a few seconds every once in awhile). Ping times to the Shoretel phones in that building from my office here are less than 3 ms.
Total equipment involved:
• (2) Tranzeo 6600f Transceivers
• (2) 14dBi Circular Polarized Directional Antennas (funky looking)
• (1) Cheap Netgear FS726TB PoE Switch (to power Shoretel phones)
We spent about $1,100 on the equipment. So far we only have 3 phones in that building, but everything is working great! I don't have a lot of experience and haven't done any QoS or VLAN segregation. Things are good so far, but will look into that if we experience any problems as we open more offices up in that building. Thanks for all of your help and advice guys!
