  • VM notification

I thought it odd that I had not received a VM in three days. Folks started calling the house!
For some reason my station (only) has stopped lighting the MW light on my 230. Looked in notification configure and my is the same as everyone else. Theirs works fine.

    Any ideas?

Are you having your voicemails sent to your outlook. If so make sure that the checkbox is not checked to delete the message when moved.

You can use the cfg tool on the shoretel server to test your mailbox. You can manually light the lamp, set the numbers of messages indicator, see the number of messages in the mailbox. It is a command line tool, in C:\Program Files\Shoreline Communications\ShoreWare Server\.

      cfg
      openm xxx (extension)
      lmbox

will show messages in your box, how many are "new" (this doesn't mean unheard, just means not deleted or saved), unheard, saved, erased...

        Getting complicated

No, the VM's are not going any where. No Outlook or any such. They are there, I just am not getting a message waiting lamp on my phone (nor stutter). I can look in history and they are there. (And I can listen to them) Is there something is COS that may have gone haywire? Have made no changes in several weeks.

              Let's try again

If class of service is the same for all phones - is there something else in set up that allows the Message Waiting light to lit - prohibits it from being lit?

We are not getting the count or the light. Swapped phones and no change. Deleted myself and put back in - nothing. Carry the phone to another station - it works.

Surely some simple permission or low level miscue has happened. Running 7.5.

There is no COS that would prohibit the Message Waiting Indicator on a telephone. COS can control other notification methods such as email or notification to an external number.

Program a button on your telephone to Dial Mailbox and set the target to your own extension. On an IP230 you should get a cassette icon, on a 560 you should have a light. Do you see this when you receive voice messages?

Thanks for all of the creative guesses. What actually happened is a new employee decided to mark my notification "mark as read when delivered" hence the light never turned on.

                  Case closed.

                    mark as read when delivered

where the hell is that option hidden?

In Call Manager in configure notification. No one realized that if is marked as read when delivered that it didn't give a visual at the set.

Thanks, even though this is almost 5 years old it assisted me today as the president of my company just came across this issue.

                              lamp (EXT) (XXX)

                              Ext = extension number
XXX= number of messages to display on the phone

                              For example:
                              lamp 2148 45

This shows 45 messages on 2148.
