  • PRI Issue

    Here's my setup...

I have two offices in two different states ( Az and Ca ) running off of the same system connected with a VPN using soniwall gear. I have my HQ server at my Az office. Each office has a Shoretel 60/12 switch and a Shoregear T1 switch with a PRI coming into it.

Here's my problem. From the Az office i can call Ca phone numbers and the call routes out a Ca trunk with no issues. From the Ca office if I call an Az phone number outside the office ( say Dominos down the street from the Az office ) the Ca phone says to reorder dial tone and the call does not go through. When I watch the Shoretel VBtrunktest monitor it shows the Ca phone grabs an Az trunk for a split second and then drops it. All calls from the Az office are made with zero issues.

Here's what has changed when the problem started. I originally had 8 voice channels on the PRI coming into the Az and everything worked the way it's suppose to. We had a problem with our internet provider and we switched carriers and at the same time we change to 23 channels coming in on the PRI. At that time I added the new trunks to the Az trunk group. I do not have any restriction set on the trunk groups.

Has anyone seen this issue? If so how did you solve it?

Make sure you aren't using parent as proxy. When you created the new trunk group it was probably added to all the user groups to use, which would include CA; check the user group for CA.

The parent as proxy is unchecked on both sites and the users have both locations trunk groups selected.

I'd be looking at what changed with your new ISP. What is in the Switch Connectivity page of SWD? Did your default gateway change? New firewall? New router?

Is there anything in the event log on the HQ server (or DVM if you have one)?

I would check you local prefixes and your local area codes plus the nearby area codes.

I would also verify there are no custom codes added to the trunk group and the sites.

To verify you can make calls out the az PRI from cal. do not allow acess to the local trunk group. Make your call and see if it go out the az trunk group.

          hope this helps
