  • Cannot change site

    Hey Guys,
    Just a quick question, hopefully its something stupid im missing.

    I'm trying to assign a user to the correct site but each time I do this and save it, it reverts back to the HQ site.

    Any ideas why this is happening?

    Any help much appreciated.

    Make sure the user is assigned to the softswitch at the correct site first.

        under the general setting screen for your user. If your default setting is to automatically create a new user under HQ for instance, that is where the system will always place a newly created account. If they are already assigned a phone, move them to the softswitch under "home port' save and then change their site to the correct one.

          If you find that the users site (under General) says "Site A" but the user list shows them as HQ SoftSwitch or similar, they should go to Site A after they log into a phone for the first time.

            Actually, with the ShoreTel system, you never really assign a user directly to a site. The only reason the "Site" drop down list exists on the User setup page is to provide you with a list of available analog ports and IP phones at that site.

            You can assign the user to an analog port on a switch, and they will then be assigned to the site that switch is associated with. Or you can assign them to a ShoreTel phone, and they will then be assigned to whichever site that phone is assigned to (based on the "IP Phone Address Map").

            If the user logs in to another phone, they will then be assigned to whatever site that phone is assigned to.
