So i just returned from a pretty cool day at VoiceCon, and I figured I would pass along some of the things ST is showcasing.
Shoretel's booth is absolutely stunning. What's better? Well, it's all based on Shoretel 8. Shoretel 8 is bound to become the new standard in IP telephony. Here are a few quick details:
Shoretel Personal Call Manager 3: The old tried and true Call manager gets a facelift, and what a facelift it is. Not only does it look better, it has more functionality, and is easier to navigate to change options. It's just plain better. The VM viewer and History can now be attached, allowing quick referencing of these items, making your easier. If that wasn't enough, Professional Call Manager (New) includes Instant Message presence via a Microsoft OCS server. now, let's throw in the kitchen sink for good measure...it includes the ability to add video to the call manager with the click of a button. Okay...I think I've seen it all! Did I mention it just looks cool?!? (SCREENSHOTS ATTACHED BELOW)
IBM UM (Same-time) integration: If MS OCS is not your flavor, and you swear by IBM, then Shoretel has not left you out of the picture. Shoretel Call Manager 'lite' will fit nicely into your IBM UM control panel. This one was a surprise, even to me (Beta-tester), but I saw it with my own 2 eyes. +1 for Shoretel and IBM!
SIP Extensions: Yes...I said it. SIP EXTENSIONS. I wasn;t the first person to think it was odd to see a Cisco 7640 in a Shoretel booth, but after I picked up a Shoretel phone and called it, I was a believer! Shoretel 8 is the first ST version to support SIP Extensions. What will they think of next? I can imagine the possibilites!
There was so much more, but I know these are 3 main things that will effect most people. All in all, good show. I will be back there tomorrow.
