I spoke with people from Double Take and they gave me the most up-to-date documentation for installing and configuring double-take on Shoretel. The version of software are:

Double-Take 4.4.1.0 Build: 4.4.0.1352.5 and above
ShoreTel 7.5

Attached is the document, I have not had a chance to test this installation yet but by breezing through it it seems to be more current and in-depth and I believe it will work. I will keep everyone posted.

I thought I heard somewhere that you can run (still not supported though) ShoreWare on VM if it has a dedicated NIC card. I haven't tested this yet.

I have also heard the same thing. Shoretel Engineers told me about the same issue this thread. I have also read that VM Ware will be addressing this problem and hope to have it fixed in the next version of ESX.

Understood

Issue #1, ShoreTel will not support the VMware platform, you will save yourself a ton of heart ache simply by removing that portion of the problem

I have run Shoretel in a VM for many years with no issues at all.

Double Take looks like an interesting solution I will have to dig into it further.

hello there, i'm new here but thought i'd pipe in. i've been round and round with doubletake and shoretel recently. we were trying without success to get it working on 7.5 with the current release of doubletake and failing continually. turns out shoretel broke it in 7.5 and though they are working on certifying it on 8.0 that didn't do us much good. we ended up going with doubletake's full server failover option which does work but is much less elegant and speedy than we'd like.

hopefully this will save somebody some time and pain. i wish i'd known.
